Annual council meeting to take place at County Hall next week


The election of a leader will top the agenda when Cornwall Council meets at County Hall next week for the authority’s statutory Annual Meeting.

The leader will be confirmed following a vote by the council at County Hall in Truro on Tuesday. The first task will be to appoint the cabinet portfolio holders.

The meeting, which takes place each year, will also see the appointment of members to the various committees across the council will also take place at the meeting.

Councillors will also hear the annual State of Cornwall in the National Context speech, which will be given by the leader. 

Two motions submitted by members will also be considered for debate on the day, one on the need to protect coast and marine wildlife in Cornwall, and one on housing and homelessness.

The meeting will take place in Council Chamber at County Hall in Truro on Tuesday 24 May, starting at 10.30am.
