The Council wants to hear from organisations that work with the homeless and from people who have experienced homelessness or been threatened with homelessness as it works to update its Homelessness Strategy. The Council is holding a consultation to help us set out how we can continue to work with partners to help people who are, or who are threatened with becoming, homeless. People sleeping rough need help to get off the streets and put a roof over their head, but even if you do have a roof over your head, you can still be ‘homeless’.

Council funding of £540,000 has been agreed today (Wednesday 20 June) which will unlock over £5 million of European and national cultural money to support Cornwall’s culture, arts and heritage which is so important to our residents and businesses. The Council’s investment into Cornwall’s creative industries will boost the Cornish economy and encourage communities to get involved with what makes Cornwall’s distinct culture and identity so special. It will be used to deliver innovative projects to create jobs and build on the already strong economic success of creative industries which are estimated to contribute over £4 billion to the Cornish economy.

Cornwall’s first Multi Modal Hub at St Erth, which connects the main rail line through Cornwall with the A30, the St Ives rail park and ride and the bus network, will open to the public on Saturday, 01 June. Part of Cornwall’s ground breaking One Public Transport system, the aim of the new Hub is to reduce traffic congestion and delays on this key stretch of road by joining together rail, bus, walking and cycling facilities to encourage more people to travel by public transport.
