Limit on rubbish we collect from households
In Cornwall, we collect rubbish from households fortnightly. We will only collect rubbish that fits inside the property’s wheelie bin or protective sack with the lid closed. This is to encourage all of us to waste less, recycle more and help create a clean green Cornwall.
We don’t collect:
- Rubbish bags put out next to or on top of a wheelie bin or protective sack.
- Rubbish put out in any container other than the wheelie bin or sack we’ve provided.
Both the wheelie bins and the protective sacks hold 180 litres of rubbish. They fit roughly 3 to 4 black bin bags inside them.
Before you apply, make sure you're recycling all you can
We only provide extra bins or sacks to households that are using our recycling and food waste services. Recycling all you can will free up space in your bin for your rubbish.
Find out what goes in each recycling container
To help you recycle more and waste less, use our handy Recycling A-Z tool to check if an item can be recycled and which container it belongs to.
Ask us to review your rubbish limit
We will collect more rubbish from households under certain exceptional circumstances. You can ask us to review your fortnightly rubbish limit and apply for an extra rubbish bin or sack.
