Culture Newsletter Privacy Statement


The Culture Team is committed to protecting your privacy and security. This policy sets out how and why we use your personal data to keep you informed and in control of your information. We will never sell your personal data, or share it with other Council departments.

How we collect information from you

The Culture Team Newsletter collects and stores information you give us directly via the Culture Team Newsletter email subscription form.

Type of information we collect from you

The personal information we collect about you can include:

  • your name and email address for sending your e-newsletter,
  • your IP address, operating system and browser type for administration purposes and to produce internal reports,
  • the date and time you subscribed to the Culture Team Newsletter so we comply with the General Data Protection Regulation , and
  • your location, so we can tailor content to your local area.

How your information is used

We will use the information you give us directly on the Culture Team Newsletter sign up form to send you the Culture Team e-newsletter.  The Newsletter contains information on:

  • local Culture and Creative funding opportunities
  • paid opportunities
  • trusteeships and
  • news from our team and partners

We may also use your information to:

  • present the content of the e-newsletter in the most efficient way for you and the computer you are using,
  • enable you to use any interactive features of the e-newsletter

How long we hold your data

We regularly review how long we keep your personal information. Currently, we intend to hold your data for up to two years after your last engagement with the Culture Team Newsletter.  By this we mean you opening a newsletter email from us. Unless you ask us to delete your information from our records before that time. Please see the how do I opt out and your rights sections below for details on how to view, amend or delete your personal data from our records.

Who else has access to your information

We won’t sell or rent your information to third parties or share it with other Cornwall Council departments for marketing, or any other purposes.  This is unless we are required to do so by law. For example, by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime.

We do transfer your information outside the European Economic Area.  This is to a third-party data email platform in the US that processes your data for us.

We only give them the minimum information necessary in order to deliver the e-newsletter to you. We have a legal agreement in place with them that requires them to keep your information secure.  It must not be used for their own direct marketing purposes.

Opting out

If you decide you no longer want to receive The Culture Team Newsletter, you can unsubscribe in one of two ways:

  • Click the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of any of e-newsletters sent to you.
  • Or, email cultureteam@cornwall.gov.uk and we will aim to process your request within 14 days.

Correcting inaccurate information or deleting your personal data

If you find the information we hold about you is inaccurate, or you’d like us to delete your details altogether, please write to us and tell us. Either by email at cornwallcouncil@cornwall.gov.uk, or by letter to Cornwall Council Culture Team, New County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, TR1 3AY.

Complaints

If you think we’ve got something wrong, please do write and tell us, so we can try to put things right. However, if you are unhappy with:

  • the way we have processed your information or
  • how we have responded to your request to exercise any of your rights in relation to your data

you can raise your concerns direct with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

The ICO is the UK's independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest.  You can raise your concern by telephone on 0303 123 1113.
