Cornwall Reading Challenge 2026 – Terms and Conditions
Theme: Extraordinary Explorers
1. Overview
The Cornwall Reading Challenge 2026 (“the Challenge”) is organised by Cornwall Libraries. The Challenge runs from 11 July 2026 to 12 September 2026.
2. Eligibility
- The Challenge is open to all young Cornwall Libraries members who are resident in Cornwall.
- Young people with a temporary library membership valid during the Challenge dates are eligible.
- Participants must be registered library members before submitting completed reading activity.
3. Challenge Categories
There are two reading challenges:
- Reading Quest – A challenge for young readers.
- ‘Onen Hag Oll’/One and All - An accessible challenge designed for younger readers. Or for those who find reading more challenging.
Participants may take part in the category that best suits their reading level and preferences.
4. How the Challenge Works
Participants read books borrowed from Cornwall Libraries during the Challenge period. For

- Tasks completed (including eResources),
an incentive or reward may be issued.
Incentives are subject to availability and may be changed, replaced, or withdrawn at any time. This is at the discretion of Cornwall Libraries.
5. Prizes and Incentives
- Entrants may not claim their first incentive prize within 48 hours of joining the Reading Challenge. This is subject to the discretion of Library staff.
- Rewards and incentives carry no monetary value and cannot be sold, exchanged, or transferred.
- Certain rewards—such as swim vouchers and Treasure Trail prizes—are provided by external partners:
- These items are subject to the terms and conditions of the provider, which Cornwall Libraries does not control.
- Cornwall Libraries is not responsible for the availability, operation, or fulfilment of third‑party prizes.
6. Completion of the Challenge
- The Challenge must be completed by 12 September 2026.
- No incentives or rewards will be issued after this date.
- Cornwall Libraries reserves the right to verify reading activity before issuing rewards.
7. Data Protection
- Participant information will be handled in accordance with Cornwall Council’s data protection policies and applicable UK data protection legislation.
- Cornwall Libraries will not share personal data with third-party prize providers. Except where required for prize fulfilment and with the participant’s consent.
8. Copyright and Ownership
- All Challenge artwork, illustrations, and promotional materials are the copyright of Cornwall Libraries unless otherwise stated.
- Images and character artwork produced for the Extraordinary Explorers theme are copyright Cornwall Libraries and Emma McCann.
- No materials may be reproduced, distributed, or used for commercial purposes without prior written permission from Cornwall Libraries.
9. General Conditions
- Cornwall Libraries reserves the right to amend, suspend, or terminate the Challenge at any time without prior notice.
- By taking part, participants (or their parent/guardian where applicable) agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions.
- Cornwall Libraries’ decision on all matters related to the Challenge is final.
