Cornwall and Isles of Scilly joint Health and wellbeing strategy

By working together to tackle health inequalities, everyone can enjoy good health and wellbeing, and grow, live, work and age well.

Being healthy is about much more than the absence of illness or disease. It’s about being able to lead fulfilling lives and being actively involved in families and communities. In short, health is wellbeing- it’s about lifelong wellbeing for everyone.
The health and wellbeing boards of both Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly, are delighted to agree the first joint health and wellbeing strategy. This is a long-term strategy for the next ten years. This strategy uses evidence on our biggest health challenges, and listening to our partners.
Life expectancy has stayed the same, and inequalities in health are increasing. Now it is time to take effective action on the causes of the causes of poor health. This will take strong leadership and commitment to working in partnership on the agreed priorities. This approach will work alongside our health and care services, helping to prevent ill health and reduce pressure on services.
During the COVID-19 pandemic people from all sectors in Cornwall worked together to protect people’s health and ensure we could continue to provide essential services. This shows how partnership working at all levels is crucial in times of crisis, and will also be key to recovering from the pandemic.
