About our small grants community fund

The Fund is part of the larger Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Cornwall programme, which is funded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR). Its aim is to boost research capacity and capability at Cornwall Council. This will be done by collaborating with partners in academia and the community. The CSG Fund aims to identify community research priorities and meet local needs for funding.

The Fund helps community organisations in Cornwall research 'health determinants.' These factors include housing, work, education, and access to services. These factors can impact on the physical or mental health of people. We have broad priorities. We invite community organisations, no matter their research experience, to think about what they want to study. This research can focus on issues that affect the health of people in their communities. For example, it might mean reviewing a mental health project, exploring transport issues for locals, or trying a new outdoor activity. It can be anything that boosts knowledge or improves health outcomes for people in Cornwall.

The CSG Fund supports research projects that help people in Cornwall. This includes service development, reviews, evaluations, and best practice development. It also aims to show impact by asking relevant research questions.
