Research at NIHR HDRC Cornwall

A core aim of the NIHR Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Cornwall is to support and encourage research. We are working to embed a culture of research within Cornwall Council.  We are also working with communities to encourage people to get involved with and help shape future research in Cornwall.

Our areas of research interest

As our potential remit of work is very wide, our team have been pulling together our key areas of research interest (known as ARIs). We will be sharing these here on the website very soon.

How we can support research in Cornwall

Our team can offer support for:

  • developing research projects
  • analysing and evaluating results
  • presenting findings

We also offer events and training in research practices, and opportunities for discussion and sharing ideas. You can find our latest events on our Learning, Training and Events page or email us at hdrc@cornwall.gov.uk with any queries.

If you have an idea for a research project but aren’t sure what to do next, please submit your idea on our Let’s Talk Cornwall form.

Submit your research idea on Let’s Talk CornwallPlease note that our aim is to support others in undertaking research, not to do it for you. Also what support we are able to offer may depend on our team’s capacity at the time.

Partnering on research project applications or funding bids

We may be able to partner on research project applications. It will depend on what the project or funding bid is, and our capacity. Please send us an email at hdrc@cornwall.gov.uk with more information, and one of our team will be in touch to discuss.

Funding for research projects

We may be able to offer small grant funding at times – but we anticipate that a lot of people may want support! We will share any details of grants when they become available. If you’d like to learn more email us at hdrc@cornwall.gov.uk

If you would like support for a research project outside Cornwall

Our remit is to support projects within Cornwall. But there are 30 HDRC’s around the country – so if you are outside Cornwall there may be a HDRC in your area. Learn more about the other HDRC's on the NIHR website.
