Welcome to the NIHR HDRC blog

Welcome to our blog!

We're thrilled to be able to share highlights of our work with you.

The Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Cornwall is one of 30 HDRC’s funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).

We’re working to better understand the things that affect the health of people in Cornwall. While some health impacts are due to personal habits and genetics, others are from factors that we cannot control. This could be as simple as where someone lives, or the services they can access.

These building blocks of health, the Health Determinants in our name, can impact anyone in Cornwall. That’s why we want to encourage and embed research across Cornwall Council; so the decisions we make are guided by data, not assumptions.

To help embed research we are working with several partners. Our academic partners are sharing their expertise and research experience. Meanwhile our community partners are able to share insights from the people of Cornwall, because they hear from Cornish residents what matters to them.

This blog will share information and insights from our work.

It may be a report from an interesting event, or our Research Support Officers may share highlights from the projects we are working on. Our partners may share their perspectives on our work too.

We may also hear from those who our work has impacted, or share how the results of research are leading to change. Our aim is to not only share how our work is going, but the importance of research and the positive impacts it can have.

We hope you enjoy this journey with the HDRC Cornwall!
