Free parking for specially adapted vehicles

Blue Badge holders who use a specially adapted disabled vehicle no longer need to register their vehicle with us to continue to park for free. Please continue to display your Blue Badge when parking in Cornwall Council car parks.

Do I need to register my Adapted Vehicle?

You no longer need to register for a permit. The scheme allows those who have a Blue Badge and Adapted Vehicle to park for free in our Pay and Display car parks.

What adaptions are eligible for free parking?

There are many adaptions to vehicles for a disabled person's use which could make it eligible for free parking. Unfortunately there are too many to list on this page so to check whether your vehicle might be eligible please see the eligible disabled vehicle common adaptions document.

If you are unsure if your vehicle qualifies for the free parking, please email us at parking.permits@cornwall.gov.uk and we will advise you further.

What do I need to do to renew my adapted vehicle permit?

You no longer need to renew your permit. You can continue to park for free by displaying your Blue Badge. Parking Enforcement Officers will continue to check the vehicle for any adaptions.

How does the exemption scheme work?

When checking our car parks the Parking Enforcement Officers will be able to see that the vehicle is adapted and does not require a pay and display ticket. Please continue to display your Blue Badge when parking.

I don't have an adapted vehicle, will I still get a free hour car parking using my Blue Badge?

  • Yes if you use any Cornwall Council Pay and Display car park - if you pay the normal car park fee you will continue to automatically get an additional one hours (to the max stay) parking added to the time you have paid for.
