
Session or Support Description
To learn to sew and be part of projects. Participants will be able to identify and name basic sewing tools and equipment. Participants will demonstrate how to thread a needle and make basic hand stitches (e.g., running stitch, backstitch). Participants will learn how to safely use a sewing machine under supervision. Participants will improve fine motor coordination through tasks such as threading needles, cutting fabric, and stitching. Participants will demonstrate improved hand-eye coordination when operating a sewing machine or doing hand-sewing. Participants will explore their creativity by selecting fabric patterns and colours for simple sewing projects. Participants will complete a basic sewing project (e.g., pillowcase, tote bag, or simple garment). Participants will learn to follow simple step-by-step instructions to complete a sewing task. Participants will develop confidence and a sense of accomplishment through finishing projects.
