Parents and carers invited to launch of new Family Hub in Penzance

Parents, carers and journalists are invited to have a look around the new Family Hub in Penzance on Monday (March 4) from noon.

Based in St John’s Hall, it is designed to be a ‘one stop shop’ for families, offering everything from general parenting advice and infant feeding support to antenatal and mental health support.

The Family Hub opened its doors in October last year, replacing the much smaller hub on Alverton Street.

Located on the ground floor next to the library, the new facility boasts a range of rooms offering spaces for group work and activities as well as therapeutic support and one-on-one sessions.

Cllr Barbara Ellenbroek, Cabinet Members for Children and Families, said:

“The new Family Hub in Penzance is already proving to be a vital asset to the community so why not come along and see what it can do for you? Raising a family can be tough so knowing that there is a wide range of support under one roof is a tremendous benefit.

“I’m very proud that Cornwall is leading the way in early years help and continues to be a brilliant place to be a child and grow up.”

The launch of the new Family Hub in Penzance comes after Cornwall was chosen as a national ‘trailblazer’ to lead the way in offering support to parents, carers and children through its network of Family Hubs.

Cornwall now has 23 Family Hubs delivering integrated child and family services from pre-birth to 19 years, or up to 25 years for young adults with additional needs.
