A new strategic partnership has been announced which will see people being supported by Discovery, a subsidiary care and support provider of Dimensions, after Achieve Together served notice on residents.

Cornwall Council has been working to develop the new partnership so that the adults with learning disabilities who currently reside and are supported at the Achieve Together homes will be provided with good quality accommodation and care.

Cornwall Council cabinet member for adult social care and health, Cllr Andy Virr said:

“I’ve very pleased that we have quickly been able to put this partnership into place to provide reassurance to the people who have been affected by the decision of the previous provider to serve notice.

“Discovery is a not-for-profit organisation with extensive experience of providing support to autistic people and people with learning disabilities. Their values are very closely aligned to ours at Cornwall Council, providing care and support that is personalised to the individual.

“Officers are working closely with the people affected and their families to ensure a smooth transition over to the new service with the aim of finding longer term accommodation in the future.

“Although not everyone affected will transfer over to Discovery, everyone will be assessed on their individual needs and provided with the best solution for them.”

Helen Orford, Managing Director of Discovery said:

“Everyone should be able to live an ordinary life as an active member of their local community. Working closely alongside families, Cornwall Council and other partners, we hope to support these citizens to do just that.”
