Free training for registered managers aims to strengthen Cornwall’s care workforce

A free training course for registered managers working in Cornwall’s care sector aims to strengthen Cornwall’s care workforce.

The training has been developed following the recently published adult social care workforce strategy , which sets out a wide range of plans to support people in Cornwall’s care sector to experience good work and deliver excellent social care.

Cornwall’s adult social care workforce strategy

Cornwall Council Strategic Director for care and wellbeing, Ali Bulman said:

“Our strategy recognises that the supply and retention of registered managers is a concern for Cornwall’s care workforce, with a high proportion of our current registered managers due to retire in the next 10 years.

“We therefore know that development programmes to support promotion into these roles are needed.  I’d urge anyone who has recently become a registered manager, or is a deputy manager, to take advantage of this course which will build on the strengths and skills needed to carry out the role.”

The programme is comprised of 5 modules focused on leading others, developing self, delivering care operations, management excellence, and an optional module for those not yet CQC registered: preparing for CQC interview.

Ali Bulman added:

“This programme has been designed working in partnership with people who are already working as highly experienced registered managers in Cornwall, so people can be confident that the training will be of a high-quality, giving people the knowledge and skills to excel in the role.”

You can find out more about the role by visiting the Proud to Care websiteThere are a limited spaces available but there will be more opportunities to join the next set of training dates later in the year.
