The event will be kicked off by Professor Tim Lenton, Director of the Global Systems Institute at Exeter University followed by group sessions so participants can share  ideas before working through priorities and actions.

Councillor Adam Paynter, Chair of the Launceston Community Network Panel, said: “Now is the time for us to take responsibility for developing and delivering real action to tackle climate change and I hope people will join us on November 20 to play their part.”

Parish councillor Ralph Hudson said: “I am delighted that Prof Lenton will be joining us; his knowledge and expertise in the area of climate change will be invaluable to our discussions and should be a catalyst to positive action.”

Martyn Alvey, Cornwall Council cabinet member for environment and climate change, said: "It's great to see Launceston taking the initiative to encourage residents to act on reducing their carbon emissions and helping to tackle the climate emergency. I hope many people take part in this event and look out for our Cornwall Climate Commitments engagement events coming soon."

This event will take place on Microsoft Teams on Saturday, November 20, at 10am.
