Whether shopping, looking for something different to do, or a great place to eat, finding out what’s what and who’s who in and around Cornwall’s towns and high streets is about to become a whole lot easier.

Bude, Camelford, Hayle, Launceston, Newquay, Penzance and Wadebridge have all signed up for an initial trial of the new free dscvr app (pronounced ‘discover’).

Whether you’re planning a visit or rediscovering your home town, dscvr is a handy addition to a day out.

Here are the TOP 5 reasons to download dscvr:

  • Find everything you need to shop, eat and do in Cornwall
  • Keep your finger on the pulse of your community
  • Discover your local hidden gems
  • Support your local businesses by shopping small
  • Receive offers and events tailored to your taste

Search ‘dscvr’ in your app store to download the app.

The dscvr app trial is wholly paid for by the Welcome Back Fund, funded by the European Regional Development Fund with the support of HM Government and Cornwall Council. This fund provides support to local authorities to explore and develop plans for responding to the medium term impact of Covid-19. This includes trialling new ideas especially those relating to the high street.

Cllr Stephen Rushworth, Cornwall Council’s portfolio holder for the economy, said: “Our towns are the heart of our communities and, even before the pandemic, were undergoing a massive change. Then came the various levels of Covid lockdown limitations. These highlighted our reliance on having a good selection of local businesses on our doorsteps offering a wide range of products and services with great local, personal service.

“dscvr is a useful new tool for our residents and for our visitors. Those who download it can benefit from having all the available information possible at their fingertips, and the towns and businesses taking part in the trial can receive the support they deserve to prosper and flourish.”

Cornwall Council has arranged for businesses to feature free on the app. Any businesses that would like to add information or have any questions can email cornwall@dscvr-app.com to see if they are eligible.
