Residents, farmers, businesses and landowners can learn more about ambitious new plans to restore nature across the region at a live question and answer session next week.
Cornwall Council is hosting the online event to answer questions about the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Nature Recovery Strategy.
Everyone is invited to join the Nature Recovery Strategy: LIVE Q&A session on Facebook on December 9, at 6pm.
The strategy which was launched for public consultation last month has been developed together with the region’s Local Nature Partnership, the Council of the Isles of Scilly and the Isles of Scilly National Landscape partnership.
On the Facebook Live panel will be:
- Councillor Martyn Alvey, Cornwall Council’s cabinet member for environment and climate change
- Philippa Hoskin, Cornwall Council’s nature recovery manager
- Martin Howlett, Local Nature Partnership member and chair of the Tamar Valley National Landscape Partnership
- Hattie Severinsen, National Farmers’ Union South West’s environment and land use adviser
- Duncan Anderson-Margetts, Country Land and Business Association’s regional adviser
- Marcus Rhodes, Post Doctorate Researcher in Ecology and Conservation, University of Exeter
Participants can follow the discussion on Facebook, Twitter or YouTube.
Cllr Alvey said:
“Thank you to all of you who have already helped shape our Nature Recovery Strategy and to those of you have told us what you think about the opportunities and challenges for the vital task of restoring nature across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
“The Facebook Live event is a chance for you to ask questions directly of the panel so you can find out more about why the Nature Recovery Strategy is crucial to us fulfilling our goal for 30% of our land and rivers to be well managed for nature by 2030.”
