Book now for free climate change training

Cornwall Council is offering free climate change training to help residents, community groups and businesses learn more about how to reduce their carbon impact. 

The one-hour online courses delivered by training providerGEP Environmental are aimed at anyone wanting to learn more about: 

  • the science behind climate change 
  • how global warming will impact Cornwall 
  • the role of government, local authorities, businesses and individuals in tackling the issue. 

The courses are open to everyone free of charge on the following dates: 

  • February 27, 2pm – 3pm  
  • March 3, midday – 1pm 
  • March 9, 1pm – 2pm 
  • March 22, 5pm – 6pm 
  • March 23, 3pm – 4pm 
  • March 30, 5pm – 6pm 
  • April 6, 10am – 11am 
  • April 13, midday – 1pm 
  • April 25, 3pm – 4pm 

There will also be free courses aimed specifically at helping businesses find out more about climate change and what they can do to make positive changes on the following dates: 

  • March 29, 11am - midday 
  • April 3, 2pm - 3pm 
  • April 25, 10am - 11am 
  • April 25, 11am - midday 
  • April 26, 1pm - 2pm 

Spaces on all the courses are limited and will be offered on a first come-first served basis. 

Cllr Martyn Alvey, Cornwall’s cabinet member for environment and climate change, said: “We’re putting on these free courses for everyone as part of our work to help people take positive steps towards cutting their emissions and to support Cornwall in becoming carbon neutral. 

“As well as being able to learn more about the science of climate change and how global changes will impact us locally, the courses will be a chance to link up with others and share ideas on reducing our impact on the planet.”
