Voters are being reminded to check their designated polling station ahead of elections for Cornwall Council and town and parish councils on May 1.
With only two weeks go until polling day, voters are being reminded to make sure they know where they need to go, and check they have a valid form of photo ID.
If you’re voting in person, you can use the polling station finder on the Cornwall Council website to check your designated polling station. Remember, you can only vote at the polling station you have been assigned.
Poll cards, which are sent out to people who are registered to vote in the weeks leading up to the elections, also provide details of your designated polling station. You do not need to have your poll card with you to vote.
All polling stations will be open between 7am and 10pm on May 1.
Don’t forget to bring your photo ID on polling day. Accepted forms of ID include:
• Passport
• Driving licence
• Government issued older or disabled person’s bus pass
• Blue Badge
• Defence Identity Card
• Identity card bearing the Proof of Age Standards Scheme hologram (a PASS card)
The full list of accepted ID is available on the Electoral Commission’s website.
You can still use your photo ID if it's out of date, as long as it looks like you. The name on your ID should be the same name you used to register to vote.
If you don't have valid photo ID, you can apply for free Voter ID
If you need help to cast your vote at a polling station, you can take someone with you to assist you or ask the presiding officer for help.
There will be large print versions of the ballot paper available and a tactile voting device to help blind and partially sighted voters complete their ballot paper at all polling stations.
If you require any additional support to help you vote, please contact Cornwall Council’s elections team on 01872 324 196 or email voter-registration@cornwall.gov.uk.
