Occupational Therapy

Return to Practice Occupational Therapists

Are you a qualified Occupational Therapist who has been out of practice for 2 or more years and would like to return to the profession?

We are keen to offer local Occupational Therapists the option of a placement within our social care teams.  You will have the opportunity to refresh your knowledge and skills in order to meet HPCP requirements, alongside our experienced Occupational Therapists.

We are able to offer either paid placements as an Occupational Therapy support worker or unpaid placement where you will be assigned as a volunteer.  These can be arranged on a flexible and part-time basis.

Once you have completed your practice hours and re-registered with the HPCP, you will then have the opportunity to apply for any Occupational Therapy vacancies which are available.  You can view the Council’s employee benefits including flexible working options and pay scales.

HCPC recommends these minimum requirements to update your skills and knowledge:

No of Years out of Profession

Requirements to update your skills and knowledge

0-2 years

no requirements, you can apply for any relevant roles straight away

2-5 years

30 days (210 hours)

5 years or over

Further information and guidance can be found on the NHS Health Education England website
