Feet, Wheels and Wings

How can we be travel aware?

Cornwall Council commissioned this exciting unit of work from Sense of Place, entitled Feet, Wheels and Wings to help teachers to address sustainable travel themes within the curriculum. This unit will also support the work of School Travel Plans and the Travel and Traffic doorway of sustainable schools.

In this unit pupils will plan a journey to a mystery set of criteria.  In order to meet this challenge they must find out about travel types and their characteristics.  They will find out how travel choices can impact on their health, environment and communities and explore travel around the world and in the past.  Their investigations will culminate in a whole class film workshop using green screen technology where they will take an audience on a virtual adventure around Cornwall.

Teachers will be able to access this exciting new unit through Sense of Place Membership, which offers access to all Sense of Place units of work and resources through a secure online facility and includes new units; existing materials regularly updated; a gallery of exemplar work, as well as access to a free introductory Sense of Place inset session.
