Highways Asset Management and Maintenance

Cornwall Council adopts an Asset Management approach to the management of its highway assets. We implement a systematic approach to highway maintenance which takes a long-term view of treatments. Using lifecycle planning, we consider the cost of maintenance treatments over the life a highway asset. This is to inform the optimal treatment at each stage of the asset’s life. We consider customer expectations and define levels of service. Our levels of service are set out in the Highways Maintenance Manual. These levels are aligned, are far as reasonably practicable, to the national code of practice.
