Support for Community Transport

We can work with communities and organisations to develop Community Transport solutions within the County by:

  • Providing advice and information on all aspects of rural transport, including how to identify your local community’s needs and types of solutions may meet these.
  • Assisting in research and developing new and existing Community Transport initiatives.
  • Providing advertising on the Cornwall Council site and within the Cornwall Public Transport Area Guides.
  • Providing funding for a number of Community Transport organisations within the County.

We require that schemes who receive any type of support from us must meet or, in the case of new schemes, be working towards achieving certain minimum standards. These include DBS checks, relevant MiDAS training and both Child and Adult Safeguarding training. A copy of these requirements can be provided on request.

Cornwall Council is the co-ordinating body for transport services in Cornwall and supports financially some bus services within the County that would not otherwise be viable. These are listed on our buses information page. Cornwall Council can assist Parish Councils to assess the need for bus shelters and where appropriate can offer grants for their construction.
