During the summer of 2016 we carried out a town parking review in those towns

As a result of the feedback we have had, during 2018 we consulted on proposals to make changes to parking in these towns including new residents' parking schemes in Penryn, St Ives, Truro and Wadebridge and changes to existing parking restrictions (e.g. yellow lines) in Bude, Falmouth, Newquay and Penzance.

Changes to Residents' Parking Zone terms and conditions

A consultation was carried out between 14 March and 5 April 2019 on proposals to operate all residents' parking zones across Cornwall under the same terms and conditions.

A summary of the comments made during the consultation and recommendations are set out in the consultation report.

The results of the consultation were presented to the Economic Growth and Development Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 14 May 2019.

The new terms and conditions will come into effect on 1 October 2019.

New Residents' Parking schemes

Following consultation we have decided not to implement new residents' parking schemes in Penryn or Wadebridge.

In Truro we have decided to introduce six new zones to complement those already in place and in St Ives two new zones will be introduced.  We intend for these to become operational from April 2019.

The residents parking scheme consultation reports are available on our residents' parking FAQ page.

Proposed Parking charges

Our consultation about the 2017 off street car park orders (proposed new and revised parking charges) ended on 16 December 2016.

After considering consultation feedback Cornwall Council’s Cabinet decided to freeze parking charges in Cornwall Council run car parks for the second year in a row.
