Individual Instrument Hire Agreement

Before applying to hire an individual instrument please read the hire agreement below.

Included in this hire agreement are:

  • the cost of hire
  • insurance information
  • general terms and conditions of the hire

Please be aware that the Hire Agreement is a legally binding contract. When hiring an instrument, it confirms that you have read, understood and agree to abide by the terms and conditions under the Hire Agreement.

Paying for and receiving the instrument

Once your application has been received, an invoice will be raised.  This will be for the first term’s hire fee and the delivery/collection fee. Please pay the invoice as soon as possible to avoid a delay to the delivery of your instrument.  Once payment has been received, an instrument will be delivered by courier to the student’s school.  We aim to deliver instruments within 1 week of payment.   

Hire period

During the hire, the instrument remains the property of The Hub.  It must be returned upon request in good condition. Failure to return the instrument or pay the termly hire fee in accordance with the Hire Agreement, will result in legal action being taken. The Hirer is responsible for any damage caused to the instrument.

The hire period will start on the date the instrument is issued.  This is usually at the beginning of the term. An invoice will be sent to you for each subsequent term.  This will happen until you notify the Hub Instrument Manager of your decision to stop the Hire. Please be aware that hire fees are revised each September.

Returning the instrument

Should you wish to return the instrument, please return it to the student’s school and notify the Hub of its return. Please note that hire fees will continue to be charged until The Hub office has been informed that the instrument has:

  • Been returned to the student’s school for collection
  • Has been collected by our courier

You can notify us that the instrument is ready for collection by emailing CMEH@cornwall.gov.uk. Or calling the Hub Instrument Manager.

Please do not leave the instrument with the peripatetic music teacher or pass the instrument on to anyone else. You will continue to be liable for the full cost of hire.
