The Honours system

The Honours system recognises people who have made acheivements in public life and/or committed themselves to serving and helping Britain. Anyone can nominate someone for an honour.

A modest hero, Reg Philp, from North Cornwall was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for outstanding gallantry and leadership.

Lieutenant Robert John Davies, born in Newlyn, was awarded the George Cross for the heroism he displayed in defusing a bomb which threatened to detroy St Pauls Cathedral on 12 September 1940.
