Torpoint Library and Information Service

Torpoint Library and Information Service is managed by Torpoint Town Council, supported by Cornwall Council.

Cornwall’s Libraries are now able to offer book services again by welcoming you at the door but not any further just yet. Order your books online, then go to your nominated library to collect them from the lobby or entrance. You can also return items, with no fines until 30 September. Regular library activities such as story-time sessions will have to wait until we can fully reopen. They can’t go ahead until it is safe. Please keep an eye on our social posts and publicity.

If you’ve been longing for a real book in your lap, come back to us from Monday 6 July, opening days and times will vary. Please see opening times below.

Those who use the Information Service for payments and council enquiries should continue to use:

  • paypoint facilities
  • online options
  • telephone options

These have been in place over the last three months. The Information Service remains closed. The click and collect service is only for library books.

  • There is on-street parking outside but no designated disabled spaces
  • Access is via the main entrance and the library is all on one floor
  • There is no free customer parking at this One Stop Shop.  The nearest pay and display car park is in Tamar Street

Payments for Council services such as Council Tax or Business Rates are taken during opening hours at this location, please have your bill to hand.

For your convenience there are a range of PayPoint and Post Office sites that accept both cash and card payments, with most Post Offices still accepting cheques at no extra cost.  Your account will be updated overnight and many PayPoint stores have longer opening hours, often including weekends, offering greater flexibility and choice.   • National Concessionary bus pass applications are quick and easy to apply for online. If you do not have access to the internet they can be processed Monday to Friday during normal opening hours.
  • Council payments taken during normal opening hours
  • Council Surgery on the First Saturday of each month 10am-noon
  • Housebound Library delivery service - We do offer a Housebound Library delivery service. Customers can contact us using the contact details on the right of this page or in person
  • Monthly Carers Drop in first Friday of the month 10am – 12noon
     - ask staff for exact details.
  • Pluss Workroutes Team available 9:30am - 11:30am every Wednesday to provide support and guidance in getting back to work.  For an appointment call 07760786775 or 07765240785.

  • Recycling bags and boxes can be ordered using the request recycling equipment / recycling containment online form.
  • Seagull proof bags available at a cost of £3.50. Each reusable bag will hold thee black rubbish sacks. 
  • Computer classes for beginners
  • Digital Champion available every Wednesday 10am-noon.
  • Craft Group meets every Monday from 2pm
  • Torpoint Art Group meet every Friday from 11am. 
  • Torpoint Library Readers Group (Torpoint  Chapter) meet the first Monday of the month from 11am-noon - contact the library for further details.
