St Columb Library

St Columb Library is managed by St Columb Major Town Council, supported by Cornwall Council.

Cornwall’s Libraries are now able to offer book services again by welcoming you at the door but not any further just yet. Order your books online, then go to your nominated library to collect them from the lobby or entrance. You can also return items, with no fines until 30 September. Regular library activities such as story-time sessions will have to wait until we can fully reopen. They can’t go ahead until it is safe. Please keep an eye on our social posts and publicity.

If you’ve been longing for a real book in your lap, come back to us from Monday 6 July, opening days and times will vary. Please see opening times below.

Those who use the Information Service for payments and council enquiries should continue to use:

  • paypoint facilities
  • online options
  • telephone options

These have been in place over the last three months. The Information Service remains closed. The click and collect service is only for library books.

  • Limited parking next to the library with five spaces for up to an hour, no disabled spaces
  • Disabled access is via the main entrance
  • National Concessionary bus pass applications are quick and easy to apply for online.  If you do not have access to the internet they can be processed Monday to Friday during normal opening hours.
  • Recycling bags and boxes - This library does not hold stocks but we can order on your behalf or you can order direct using our request recycling equipment / recycling containment online form.
  • Council Payments - Payments for Council services such as Council Tax or Business Rates cannot be taken at this location, however there are a range of PayPoint and Post Office sites that accept both cash and card payments, with most Post Offices still accepting cheques at no extra cost.  Your account will be updated overnight and many PayPoint stores have longer opening hours, often including weekends, offering greater flexibility and choice.   • Reading Groups:
    • Time Out Readers Group - meet second Tuesday of the month in the library at 1:30pm-3:30pm
    • The Novelties Readers Group - usually meet last Thursday of the month in the library at 1pm-2pm
    • St Columb Book Discussion Group meets at 2pm on the last Thursday of each month.
    • Please ask at the library for more information about the above groups. 
  • Computer classes for beginners
  • The Laughter Crafters group- every Tuesday from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. The session is for anyone that is interested in crafting and enjoys the social aspect of crafting, you willl need to bring along your own crafting resources.
  • Special events - we have a wide range of events taking place in libraries including author talks, drop-in events and much more. Find out if there are any special events taking place in a library near you.
  • Bookstart Rhymetime - Tuesdays at 10:30am (not in summer holidays)
  • Storytime and Craft - every Thursday at 1:30pm
  • Lego Club - Every Saturday from 10.30am to 12.30pm
