Information about Hayle Library and Information Service 

The management of Hayle Library and Information Service has transferred to Hayle Town Council as part of Cornwall Council’s Devolution Programme. The Devolution Programme is helping councils and communities take over local ownership, management and control of services. Cornwall Council continues to support the Town Council to deliver the local service. Hayle Library and Information Service customers will still be members of the Cornwall Library and Information Service and will be able to borrow from the Cornwall-wide stock of books, CD’s and DVD’s, as well as having access to online newspapers, e-magazines, eBooks and computers.

  • Wheelchair access to the main entrance (automatic doors).

Cash, cheque and card payments are taken during normal opening hours.

  • Self Service (staff available to help if required)

  • National Concessionary bus pass applications are quick and easy to apply for online.  If you do not have access to the internet they can be processed Monday to Friday during normal opening hours.
  • Council payments taken during normal opening hours.

  • Recycling bags and boxes - this Library and Information Service does not hold stocks but we can order on your behalf or you can order direct using the using our request recycling equipment / recycling containment online form.
  • Computer volunteer available on Mondays from 2pm-5pm, booking required.
  • Computer classes for beginners
  • The U3A writing group meet in the library every other Thursday 10am-noon (the library is closed except for access to the writing group)  If you're interested in joining please ask a member of staff.
  • Special events - we have a wide range of events taking place in libraries including author talks, drop-in events and much more.
  • Reading groups that can be found throughout Cornwall.
  • Action on Hearing Loss workshops. On the first Monday of every month between 10 and 12pm you can have your hearing tested, get advice on hearing equipment and support in your local area.
  • Who Dares Works are doing sessions every other Monday from 2-4pm. They are here to help you connect with training, education and work.
  • Storytime sessions every Friday at 3:45pm  for children of infant and junior school age (4-12 years).  
  • Lego club every other Friday at 3.45pm - includes Lego and a story.
  • Bookstart Rhymetime every Wednesday there are two sessions (10am until 10.30am) and (11am until 11.30am).
