Information about Covid19:
Please read our information on how we are supporting residents and businesses, as well as information on affected services.

Libraries

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, all libraries, the mobile library service, the Education and Early Years Library Service and Information Service sites are now closed and non-operational. This includes reserving books online. Library members who have books or other materials on loan should keep them at home. They can be renewed as many times as needed online, but all overdue charges will be waived during this time.
The libraries team are currently looking at how it can support the most vulnerable customers. Cornwall Library members can access a wealth of online reading, eBooks, Audiobooks, newspapers and magazines, comics and eGraphic novels using the online library

UPDATE - We are currently in discussions with local partners to look at ways of safely re-opening library and information service sites. With any model we need to follow the latest government advice and ensure the safety of staff and customers. We will keep residents updated on the Cornwall Library website.

Coronavirus update - use our digital library

Our libraries provide access to a wide range of books for leisure and learning, plus:

  • CDs
  • DVDs
  • online newspapers
  • eBooks
  • eAudiobooks
  • online magazines
  • music scores
  • plays and
  • local information

We also offer access to computers and online resources.

Cornwall Library and Information Services are inclusive. We can support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.  Some of our sites have level access to the buildings for wheelchairs as well as disabled parking spaces. We plan all activities with a view to the needs of those attending. Some sites have quiet areas, some can dim the lights.  Children aged 8 and under remain the responsibility of the parent during visits to our sites. We are responsible for ensuring your child is safe and secure within the building. Some of our teams are trained in first aid. All staff have had a DBS check and have had safeguarding training. Our service policies include safeguarding/child protection, and Equality and Diversity.
