Langarth Garden Village

Langarth Garden Village is an ambitious Cornwall Council led project. We want to create a distinctive community at Langarth, on the edge of the city of Truro, where people will live work and thrive.

Community involvement is key and we're inviting residents to come and have their say and help shape plans for the scheme.

The local community have been sharing their initial ideas, aspirations and concerns for the site with members of the masterplanning team at drop in sessions held at Threemilestone, Highertown, Chacewater, St Agnes and Shortlanesend. Members of the public have also been completing an online questionnaire setting out their views on the emerging scheme.

Details of the emerging options will be shared at a further round of community engagement events in November.

Residents are invited to drop in to give their views and help shape the preferred option on

  • Friday 08 November – 2pm -  7pm at the Threemilestone Community Centre
  • Friday 15 November -8am – 7pm at the Pydar Pop Up building, St Clement Street, Truro ( the former Hardy Carpets building)

Langarth will be a vibrant, connected, well planned community for between 8,000 and 10,000 residents of Cornwall. It will have local character, strong services and integrated and accessible transport and green spaces.

Langarth has Garden Village status. Nature will be a key part of the design with green spaces, thoughtfully designed neighbourhoods and affordable homes.

Langarth will also become home to the Stadium for Cornwall. This is a separate scheme funded by a partnership led by Truro and Penwith College and the Penzance Pirates.

Our involvement means high quality, well designed homes which are affordable for local people. Schools, health and play facilities built at the start of the scheme rather than at the end. We want to create a sustainable bus service and cycle paths and walkways. This will connect homes within the Garden Village and out into neighbouring communities and places of work.

Our aim is to involve as many people as possible in the development of Langarth Garden Village. The new community will have positive links with Truro and nearby towns and villages. These include Threemilestone, Gloweth, Highertown, Chacewater and Shortlanesend.

We have also set up a separate Langarth Stakeholder Panel. This represents the interests of existing residents and businesses in and around the site.
