Report empty and unused property
The current Coronavirus situation will have an impact across our various functions and involve some change in priorities, including a focus on emergency matters. Whilst we are aiming to maintain customer service there may be a delay in dealing with other enquiries and work during this period.
Empty properties are a wasted resource which could be used for much needed homes. They can be an eyesore or cause other problems. If you are concerned about a property, please complete the form below. Please note:
We need your details, plus an accurate address and details about any particular problems. Photographs and other information would also help. Please send these separately after we have sent you an acknowledgement and reference number.
There may be genuine reasons why a property appears empty but it is not appropriate to pursue. For example:
- the property is a second/holiday home
- the owner/s live elsewhere for care, and/or
- inheritance issues
To ensure efficient and effective use of limited resources we focus on the most appropriate areas and properties. Principally we look at empty properties in main settlements which have most potential to provide homes. We work to engage with and help owners of all empty properties. However, those properties in other settlements and outlying areas may not be followed up or progressed unless there are overriding factors.
