It uses the many conversations we have to encourage and help people to make healthier lifestyle choices.  You do not need to be an expert to have a simple chat which could make a significant and lasting difference for someone.

Making Every Contact Count focuses on the following lifestyle issues:-

  • Stopping smoking
  • Being physically active
  • Healthy eating and keeping to a healthy weight
  • Managing alcohol intake
  • Improving mental health and wellbeing

Cornwall Council's Public Health team has a key leadership role in rolling out  MECC across local government, businesses, health, social care and voluntary and community sector organisations in Cornwall; chairing the Cornwall MECC Steering Group and delivering training to support the approach through Healthy Cornwall.

To find courses go to the Healthy Cornwall website and click on the training tab.

There is also a national Making Every Contact Count website which has a range of further information including case studies and e-learning.
