The Library service

Cornwall Library provides members free access to a wide range of online resources. These include electronic books, eAudiobooks, online newspapers and magazines, stream music to your internet device and research information using our online reference library.

  • Virtual ‘tours’ are available on the internet. Youtube have tours of different parts of Cornwall. Also, there are virtual art gallery tours

  • You can still go outside - once a day go for a walk, run or cycle. Make sure if you do see anyone else you keep at least 2m (six feet) away from each other. You shouldn’t travel to do this exercise, you should start and end it at your home. Download the free NHS Active 10 App for a little added motivation.

  • If social media is your thing look for the hashtag #StayInWorkOut on social media for ideas on being active
  • Although Better leisure centres are now closed in line with Government guidance, they have an app you can download for free to join in with virtual fitness classes The Better UK app can be found at and is available free to download on both IOS and Android devices. You don’t need to be a member of a Better leisure centre, simply use the code BETTERFREE to access all classes free of charge.
  • Down Dog (Yoga for Beginners, HIIT, Barre, and 7 Minute workout) app is now free until May 1.

  • Breathe Communities have a facebook live stream that is fun and interactive Th/Fr/Sat 10.30 am. They also have a rota to phone people daily to check in on needs and health (both physical and emotional) if anyone wants a daily call let them know. 07812110273 or

  • Housparty - an app you can download to have multiple face to face chats.

Culture on demand

  • Explore FEAST’s website for creative projects in Cornwall. The re-ignition programme has been designed to support local communities through lockdown. 
  • Tyskennow Kernow is a showcase of Cornish short films and films in the Cornish language. You can watch them for free on Vimeo.
  • Learn to sing Cornish Folksongs with intoBodmin’s online choir.
  • You can join Wheal Martyn in recreating historic pictures or celebrating Clay Country. 
  • Penlee Art Gallery and Museum created the 'great British art quiz' and it is available on the Guardian newspaper online. 
  • You can listen to audio extracts from a new book about the history of Kind Edward mine on YouTube
  • This Vimeo showcase features a virtual reality tour of Cornwall. 
  • Hireth, a play telling the story of Cornish miners in WWI is available to watch on YouTube.
