Coronavirus advice for children and families

School transport

Coronavirus - transport to support vulnerable children and children of key workers.
All schools in Cornwall are closed until further notice, except for:

  • vulnerable children and young people
  • those whose parents/carers are key workers

If your child falls in to this category and you are seeking transport assistance, please contact your child’s school.

Schools admissions - changing schools

Emergency arrangements for changing school applications in light of Covid-19

Due to the current situation with Covid-19 and the uncertainty around schools reopening we are unable to accept applications that are requesting a change of school if your child already has a school place in Cornwall within reasonable travelling distance* and/or you are not moving house.

In addition we will not be able to accept applications for children that are currently registered for Elective Home Education in Cornwall. If this applies to your child and you need advice please contact the EHE Service: 01872 323400.

When we know more about timescales for schools reopening we will update this web page with guidance on applications being accepted.

At this time we will only accept applications for children that are living in Cornwall and are without a school place.  However, we will not be able to allocate a place at this time.  Your application will be held until there is more information on schools reopening and we are able to proceed.  We will then contact you to progress your application.  In the meantime we can provide advice if you believe you should be able to access the provision for vulnerable children or children of keyworkers.
