Penmount memorial grounds have now re-opened but the crematorium buildings are only open to people attending funeral services.

The Books of Remembrance can be viewed in the windows at the front of the main crematorium building. As usual the pages displayed will be the current days date and no others.

The Columbarium is now accessible. Please follow directions as posted and socially distance.

Floral tributes can be left on the Flower Terrace or in the memorial grounds.

Attending a funeral

The social distancing rules operating due to Coronavirus have caused some changes in the way that funerals are held. Government guidelines should be followed at all times.  For this reason, funeral services should only be attended by close family members. Social distancing should be respected by all mourners. This means that there may be restrictions on the number of people who can attend. We all need to keep at least 2 metres (2 yards) from crematorium or cemetery staff, and also from fellow mourners (except for members of our own household).

The Church of England has closed all its churches for funeral services.  Services can now only happen at the crematorium or at the graveside.

Penmount Crematorium is operating as usual.  They are taking bookings for funeral services to be held Monday to Friday, and if required on Saturdays. They can webcast or record the service for future viewing if you would like – please do not hesitate to ask.

Burials are also proceeding as usual.

The Coronavirus outbreak is expected to result in more deaths than usual in Cornwall.  For this reason you may notice that preparations are taking place in cemeteries and some more graves are being prepared.

The opening hours at the crematorium are also under constant review and will be extended if necessary.
