These services are delivered in partnership with Young People Cornwall, Xenzone-KOOTH, Penwith Community Development Trust and Pentreath and are jointly designed, developed and delivered with young people.

Through Community Development, communities are provided with practical, on the ground support and training enabling them to set up and develop their own resources, activities and quality youth provision. This both meet the needs of young people and their communities, and more importantly, increases and further improves outcomes for young people. Participation Workers support young people in communities across Cornwall to ensure their voices are heard at parish, town and city council levels, enabling them to influence local, county and national decisions.

A flexible, responsive and easily accessible Information and Advice service is delivered through a variety of means and settings including regular drop in sessions at the Your Way Youth Advice Centres, telephone enquiry services, online chat and resources and outreach services within local communities, in order to address issues of rural isolation and further reduce barriers to engagement.

Young people have access to counselling and mentoring services delivered both online and through face to face services, along with peer-led support through groups in schools and community settings. The service is flexible and responsive to meet local demand, and aims to improve young people’s emotional resilience and mental well-being.

HeadStart Community is part of the wider HeadStart Kernow project which is led by Cornwall Council and funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.

The project develops resilience and mental wellbeing in young people aged 10-16 years old and builds upon Your Way’s Community Development and Emotional Resilience strands. The Youth Facilitators directly support young people through one-to-one and group activities, offering a safe and confidential place to talk as well as giving relevant information and techniques to help with emotional wellbeing. They also work closely with the Community Facilitators who provide links between young people, schools, community groups, professionals and parents, as well as delivering specialist training packages tailored to parents / carers, community groups, VCSE providers and volunteers around mental health and wellbeing. Community Facilitators also manage a group of volunteer mentors who can offer support, understanding and encouragement through the challenges young people might be experiencing.

The Your Way services are available across Cornwall, with Youth Advice Centres being developed in west, mid and east Cornwall, all offering access to a wide range of services under one roof. Young people have played a major part in the design of these services and continue to be involved in the development of them. There are also a range of volunteering opportunities and apprenticeships for young people within these projects so please look out for these and share them through your networks.
