The Health Visiting and School Nursing Service are currently offering the following level of service.  This is due to the Government directives relating to Covid-19.

  • Antenatal contact: to families identified by the Midwifery Service. These families may benefit from contact and extra support from the Health Visiting Team
  • New Birth Home Visits: we will telephone before we visit to check the family are well. If you have any symptoms of Coronavirus / Covid-19, or are self isolating, we will carry out a telephone review. We will carry out regular reviews until the end of your isolation period. We will then set a date for a home visit
  • Follow up at home: for babies who need a follow up about :
    • their weight
    • concerns about the baby's growth, or
    • have a repeat blood spot complete
  • Routine Health reviews: by telephone (6-8 weeks, 1 year and 2 year reviews)

We will continue to follow up referrals, but this will be carried out by telephone.

  • Telephone assessment, advice and support. For all referrals and planned clinic appointments that have been cancelled.  As well as follow ups

  • Telephone advice to schools: to support them with children in school and those they have concerns about

We are working on offering virtual appointments via your laptop, tablet or mobile.

We continue to work with midwifery, GPs, early help, education, CAMHS and social care colleagues

This is an uncertain and anxious time for everyone who is pregnant or recently had a baby. If you have any queries or questions or need to talk to a midwife please call 01872 258000.

This service is for all maternity related calls from women, birthing people and their families. It manned by midwives and is available 24 hours a day. If you have concerns please call.  Please view the short film below for more information.

Breastfeeding Information and Support Cornwall (BISC) is a network of volunteers who are trained to provide peer support. We run group sessions across Cornwall.

We provide friendly, non-judgemental support for parents in giving breast milk to their children. For more information about your local group, visit the Family Information Service.

We share information about breastfeeding and our groups via our Facebook pages below. You can also chat to a peer supporter live by clicking the message button.
