Short Break Statement

Cornwall's short break statement is for families living in Cornwall who have a disabled child or young person aged 0-18 years.

It sets out Cornwall Council’s vision of short break services. It also simply states who can access a short break and how. For some short breaks we may need to assess your child and family.

This is to ensure that we can provide the right level of support and short break services. Information about short break opportunities can be found in:

Tresor offers short breaks to children and young people diagnosed with a disability and have complex individual needs. It offers an environment that supports children to access a variety of activities and opportunities with an appropriate peer group; and develop social, communication and independent living skills.

Residential short break referrals are completed by social workers following an assessment of a child’s presenting needs. This is then discussed at the monthly meeting of the short break panel.
