What is Technology Enabled Care?

Technology enabled care (TEC) is one of the integrated solutions for independence which coming out of the creation of a community health, care and wellbeing system for Cornwall.

Technology enabled care includes telehealth, telecare, telemedicine, telecoaching and self-care services that can put people in control of their own health, wellbeing and support, keeping them safe, well and independent and offering them and their families peace of mind.

TEC also includes personalised sensors and apps that can support fitness, health, care and wellbeing for individuals and carers. Other terms used to cover TEC services include assistive technology, digital health, health IT, mHealth, eHealth, smart home technologies, artificial intelligence and internet of things just to name a few.

Whether you know it as Assistive Technology, Telecare/Telehealth, Tech Stuff etc etc. or have never come across these terms, Technology Enabled Care (TEC) is here in Cornwall. 

There are system wide projects and programmes via Adult Transformation and Commissioning and the Shaping Our Future Programme to update and embed TEC into the pathways for Adult Social Care and Health across Cornwall. 

We are working with partners and academia embracing new technology to support people to meet their needs in different ways and to live more independent lives.
