Emergency buildings

Resilience and Emergency Management holds a database of over 400 buildings which can be opened up and used in an emergency. This may be for use as a shelter or a rest centre when people are evacuated from their homes. Buildings include community centres, village and church halls and leisure centres.

We hold details on each of these buildings such as:

  • kitchen facilities
  • disabled facilities
  • washing facilities
  • key holder details
  • building capacity
  • whether there is an area suitable for sleeping.

Do you run or manage a community building that could be used in an emergency?

If you know of a building that could be used to shelter people that are displaced from their homes we would love to hear from you. Simply fill out the form below and send or email it to us at the address shown on this page. We can then add it to our database. We will need you to supply the names and contact details of 2 keyholders. You will also need to make them aware they are on our database and that they may be called out of hours.
