Cornwall’s Neighbourhood Planning Toolkit is championed as best practice nationally. It has topic based guide notes, step-by-step processes and templates for policies and documents.

1.3% of planning applications last year led to a complaint being submitted.  Only 5% of those complaints were found to be justified.  This means that 0.075% of all planning applications resulted in an upheld complaint.  The Local Government Ombudsman (LGO) report 'Not in my back yard' is a good guide about common planning complaints.  It shows what can or cannot be taken into account in processing a planning application.  More information can be found on the LGO website.

The very first International Dark Sky Landscape designation in an Area of Natural Beauty was created on Bodmin Moor by Cornwall Council working with Caradon Observatory and the local community.
