The Cornwall Minerals Safeguarding Development Plan Document (DPD) was adopted by Cornwall Council on 4 December 2018. The DPD now carries full weight as part of the policy framework for Cornwall.

The Minerals Safeguarding DPD sets out areas of mineral resources and infrastructure to be safeguarded from other forms of development.

You can download the DPD and accompanying documents on the Mineral Safeguarding Development Plan webpage.

The Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (25)

Following the examination into the soundness of the Cornwall Minerals Safeguarding DPD and subsequent consultation on the schedule of modifications; the Planning Inspector has issued his final report setting out his recommendations for the DPD. The Inspector’s Report concludes that the Minerals Safeguarding DPD provides an appropriate basis for the safeguarding of mineral reserves and infrastructure in Cornwall. The Inspector found that the modifications proposed by the Council, which were subject to consultation earlier this year, should be included in the DPD; although in some cases the Inspector has suggested some changes to the detailed wording.  Furthermore, the Inspector found that the DPD designates appropriate safeguarding areas for mineral resources.

The Inspector’s Report can be viewed below and at County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro TR1 3AY.
