In accordance with Regulation 14 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended), notice is given that Cornwall Council, Devon County Council and West Devon Borough Council jointly adopted the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site Supplementary Planning Document [the SPD] on 31st May 2017.

The SPD explains the importance and Outstanding Universal Value of the World Heritage Site and provides advice for all decision makers, developers and the public on ensuring that the responsibilities conferred by this status are fully taken into consideration, and opportunities taken advantage of in the preparation and implementation of development plans, and in the preparation and determination of planning applications.

The modifications made as a result of the consultation on the draft SPD include changes that improve legibility for users of the SPD, improve consistency in terminology and clarify requirements for heritage impact assessments. Hard copies of the SPD can be viewed at the offices of the adopting Councils during normal opening hours.

Any person with sufficient interest in the decision to adopt the SPD may apply to the High Court for permission to apply for judicial review of the decision to adopt the SPD. Any such application must be made promptly and in any event no later than 13 weeks after the adoption of the document, which was 31st May 2017.
