Newquay Cornwall Airport Local Development Order

The Newquay Cornwall Airport Local Development Order (LDO) was produced as a facilitative and enabling tool to allow the airport to react to business requirements on a level playing field to other privately owned airports in England.

Unlike privately owned UK airports and their operators, Newquay Cornwall Airport (NCA) does not benefit from the ability to carry out the operational developments authorised through Classes F-N of Part 8 of the General Permitted Development Order (GPDO), within its site boundary without the need to obtain planning permission.  As a result, over the past three years, as airport development activity focused on the transfer of functions from the former RAF St. Mawgan air base, it was required to make formal planning applications for all development regardless of need and size.
