The Council bid to the  Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government for funding to support the West Carclaze Garden Village scheme which has resulted in an award of £300,000. The money can be used to support delivery at the site including developing projects that will be important for residents like transport links and how we make sure that there are plans in place for the maintenance of public open spaces.

This additional funding will support the Council and Eco Bos in in helping to deliver a quality new development of 1,500 new homes, including affordable housing, for local people. The new community will also have shops, a health facility and primary school, footpaths and cycle links  as well as public open spaces and gardens. The combination of this support and the opening of the new employment space for advanced manufacturing (ESAM) next to the West Carclaze site, highlights the opportunity to use the development to create better paid jobs in the area.
