Urban Buzz Comes to New County Hall

On 19 March 2019, colleagues and councillors joined Cllr Sue James to transform an area of species-poor grass into an oasis of food and shelter for insects during the summer months.

As part of Cornwall Urban Buzz project, Cornwall Council teamed up with Buglife to create ‘bubbles of wildflowers’.  This project has brought insect friendly activities to different sites in Truro, as well as to Falmouth, Wadebridge and St Austell. With our aim to help pollinators across Cornwall, wildflower meadow creation is one way in which Cornwall Council is delivering Environmental Growth through its Pollinator Action Plan.

The Grow Nature Toolkit is home to lots of information about how you can help pollinators. Letting native plants thrive, ditching pesticides, creating watering holes and reducing lawn mowing are all great examples of action you can take.
