Cornwall's Urban Buzz

Urban Buzz has now come to an end in Cornwall after running for a year from April 2018 until March 2019.

The Buglife-led project worked in partnership with Falmouth Town Council, St Austell Town Council, Truro City Council, Wadebridge Town Council and Cornwall Council, and worked in each of these four areas to create fantastic new buzzing hotpots for bees, butterflies, beetles and other pollinating insects.

Urban Buzz has been a great success, smashing all of its targets, and with the help of over 500 local volunteers they have created 58 new buzzing hotspots across the four towns. These hotspots ranged in size from large wildflower meadows to much smaller pollinator-friendly flower beds.

In Falmouth they've even created what is believed to be Cornwall’s first wildflower maze just behind Gyllyngvase Beach! Urban Buzz are looking forward to seeing the results of everyone’s hard work when many of the hotspots flower for the first time this summer.

Urban Buzz Cornwall was made possible thanks to the generous support of Biffa Award, People’s Postcode Lottery, Garfield Weston Foundation and the Eden Project.
