5 new Marine Conservation Zones in Cornwall

Cornwall will get five new Marine Conservation Zones (MCZs), The Government has announced.

They are among 18 new (MCZs) in the South West, which will expand the Blue Belt and protect marine wildlife.

The new locations include the Camel Estuary, the South West approach to the Bristol Channel near Padstow, Cape Bank near Lands End, south of the Isles of Scilly, and Helford Estuary.

Native oysters and a rare type of mussel are among the species that will get extra protection.
