Education Support for Children in Care
The Virtual School for Children in Care is a statutory requirement under the Children's Act 2004 (Section 52). The Virtual School works closely with:
- schools
- social workers
- foster carers
- children and young people
- adoption services
It aims to:
- re-engage in education
- raise attainment and aspiration.
Our priorities are set out in the Education Strategy:
- Promoting the educational attainment and achievement for all Children in Care
- Education advisers provide direct support to our most vulnerable children and young people
The children's social care offices below are open from:
- 8.45-5.15pm on Mondays-Thursdays
- 8.45-4.45pm on Fridays
When the Social Care offices are closed you can call 01208 251 300 in an emergency only.
